As Hetfield grew stronger and older his developing sense of identity demanded that he try to find out who his parents were. As with everything this task was embarked upon with much hunger and ferocity and after a fairly short but informative search Kelda revealed herself as his mother. Bruce, his since departed father, was also found - a powerful fighter.
This insight into his parentage explains much about Hetfield. He always desired to become powerful in the Monk guild - a desire to be the best that certainly existed in both parents. Also the torment that rages in his inner soul can be explained from the peaceful cleric mother and raging fighter father that bore him into the world. Joining the meditative Monks guild helped to calm this inner unrest and Hetfield can often be found in a meditative mood.
Through finding his mother and father Hetfield also met his siblings Molly, Lorelei and Pryderi. A varied bunch indeed although overall they form a balanced group. Through this discovery Hetfield did have to live with and endure the constant barracking and insults from Moloch, his step-father. Remaining proud of his family name he seeks to prove to Moloch that he is worthy of the Rockbiter surname fighting many hard battles and performing heroic deeds.
As Hetfield reached Hero level he then faced another dilemma. The need to find balance and foundation within his life led him intially to the Druid guild. However, having spent some time amongst the seekers of Natural Balance the realisation that the Druids were not initially the right option became apparent. Seeking advice Hetfield decided to join the Warmages. The anarchical and manical search for power that rages in all Warmages helped to fuel the inner fervent and passion to be the best in Hetfield and he has stayed with Warmages for most of his Hero life.
Hetfield watched with much pride and a tinge of sadness as Kelda ascended to the ranks of the Immortals. This spurned him on to become more powerful to try to fill the void left behind in the House. Moloch also ascended to these ranks some time after but continues his abuse and make insults little realising that these simply fuel Hetfield on to better Moloch's achievments within the Western Realms.
The continuous search to improve himself no longer sated his voracious appetite for life and he began to realise that there was a void in his life that was beginning to impose on his general happiness. A long time advocate of bachelorhood Hetfield had never met a woman who fulfilled all he sought in a wife. Then one day a vision of total and utter beauty and perfection of mind, body and spirit walked into Hetfield's life. Relentlessy he sought to capture her heart and affections and somehow through all his flaws and imperfections Dott Kaste saw enough good in Hetfield to accept his proposal and then become his wife. It was by far the proudest and happiest day of his life and will remain so. Every day is now a joy to Hetfield and much of the inner torment has now been calmed although enough remains to spur him on to new challenges perhaps just not with the same gusto as previously.
