Lan could no longer stay in his village - the surroundings seemed to haunt him, so he decided he would track down his father. After going through his mother's belongings, he found a letter addressed to one named Moloch in the southern town of Drakenwood. After making his way through the castle of Alforpia, he met a ranger named Alain Smith, who nicely guided him the rest of the way. Everyone he saw there knew of the mighty Hero Moloch Rockbiter, champion fighter. Lan eventually found his way to Aldersford, found him and delivered the letter. Moloch had a scribe read it (because neither could read) and Lan turned out to be the lost son of Moloch Rockbiter, respected member of the fighter's guild. Lan told Moloch of what befell his mother, and Moloch seemed saddened but gladly accepted Lan as his son, and as the brother of Viscera,Purle and Caryn, who are also very respected members of the Fighter's Guild.
Lan joined with the fighters and began training immediately, killing everything with a heated passion. His hatred for lawless bandits seemed shared amongst his guildmates, which made him feel a sense of belonging. Lan climbed the ranks of society quickly and steadily. He slew many a giant, villain, and demon along the way, proclaiming himself a champion of good. He then found himself a deputy to the fighter leader of the time Pog, and learned about the ways and politics of the Drakenwood council. As Lan reached nobledom, he decided to learn the ways of the druids. He found their raw killing power enticing and saw more order and purpose, than the psychotic methods of the warmage. As Duke Cormac IceWind, of the House Ironfist, was elected into power, Lan was made deputy again, but found council tedious, and left early in the term.
In the druid's guild, Lan met a young nymph named Tempy, whom he became infatuated with and decided to marry. Lan thought he had found the woman to love forever, but it was not meant to be. Tempy and Lan divorced realising their love had gone cold and distant, leaving him saddened by the whole experience. He then found consolation in the arms of Nayra, a student of the Druidic arts, and they spent many happy times together before Lan's adventuring ways became too much, and they too seperated. He had decided to give up on love, and focus his attentions and efforts on his training, and so left the Druids to join the Warmages.
Lan began adventuring with a new determination. He and the honourable ranger Hero Skaw Arkenstone, often battled the evils of the underdark, the two of them making a lethal combination. Skaw and Lan even went after the Demon Queen Lloth herself, but had not slain her, deciding to wait until it was absolutely necessary to do so. The time did come for this feat, and Lan proved himself worthy in combat, ascending the the ranks of the Heroes. Lan became more relaxed with his life, and became close to the then Cleric Leader Beauty, announcing his betrothment and imminent marriage. With the peace of mortaldom that had overcome him at that point, Lan chose to ascend to the heavens, where he served as an Immortal until the urge to return to the mortal plains grew too strong.
Choosing to begin again, Lan left his friends at the Fighter Guild, and sought out the life of a Ranger...
