Pryderi grew up in the northern forests, under the watchful eye of his father, the great Hierophant Druid Anubis. Despite encouragement from his father to embrace The Way of the Druids, Pryderi’s wild spirit rebelled at the thought of the self-discipline involved in constantly striving to maintain the Balance so essential to the Druidic lifestyle. And yet, he was reluctant to abandon the woodlands that had been his home for as long as he could remember. Instead, as a young elf on the verge of manhood, he joined the Ranger guild, and began learning new ways to work with nature. While still relatively inexperienced, both in the ways of the Rangers and also in life in general, he attracted the notice and the admiration of the Cleric Fidessa, who became his devoted follower from that day, and eventually manoeuvred him into a formal betrothal.
However Pryderi was becoming restless, questioning whether he was really suited to life as one of the Great Unwashed. The day after his marriage he renounced the Ranger guild, and found his way to the disreputable town of Outlands, where he was welcomed into the Brotherhood of Rogues. His bride was horrified, but her Clerical precepts forced her to remain true to the man she had chosen; and under her stern influence, Pryderi remained comparatively virtuous, committing only a few minor robberies and no murders... or at least if he did, they were never discovered.
His knowledge of Rogueish ways has been slow to advance, as he has always been known for spending more time propping up the walls of the underground hideout that is his home than going out and terrorising other adventurers. Yet Pryderi is nonetheless skilled at causing trouble with words as well as with deeds, if he so desires.
For the time being he is single, his first wife having died in mysterious circumstances, which some believe to have been suicide – some say murder – and his second wife, the powerful Rogue Borris, having suddenly vanished from the lands one day, never to be seen again. After the loss of two wives in such a suspicious manner, Drakenwood’s female population has tended to give him a wide berth.
But now he has other things to think about, as shortly after Borris’s disappearance he was sought out by Kelda, the mother he never knew, and taken into her family and the mighty house Alluminas. Although somewhat disgruntled at being introduced to a whole new community of people from whom he is not allowed to steal, he is on the whole enjoying discovering the benefits of physical and moral support from his extended family. (Even if so many of them are half-witted Fighters!)
